Margaret Floyd Butler

Margaret Kathryn Floyd Butler, 93, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at her residence in Staunton.

She was born on February 10, 1933, Lovingston, to the late John “Jack” Leland and Margaret Elmira Stevens Floyd.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheri Butler Eckard and her husband, Jeff; her grandchildren, Justin and Jeremiah Eckard, William Caywood, and Eric Butler; seven great-grandchildren; her brother, Raymond Floyd, Sr.; her sister, Joyce Eubank and her husband, Doug; and her special neighbor, Paula Rexrode, who cared for her and spent a great deal of time with her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Butler; her son, Ronald Edward Butler; her daughter, Glenda Sharon Butler Rankin; and her brother, John Melvin Floyd.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton with Pastor Bobby Campbell officiating.

Interment will immediately follow at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Eckard, Jeremiah Eckard, Justin Eckard, Eric Butler, and Douglas Eubank Jr.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for the wonderful care they gave Margaret.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105).
