Margaret R. Helmick
Margaret Lucille (Reed) Helmick, 93, widow of Elmer Helmick, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mrs. Helmick was born on August 19, 1929 in Appomattox to the late Wyatt Thomas and Sallie Elizabeth (Elder) Reed.
She is survived by a daughter Essie Mae (Durie) Hawks and a son, John Wayne Durie; grandchildren, Sherry Rowsey, Marsha Mandichak, Tommy Durie, Brandy Durie, Lori Ann Hicklin and Lisa Durie; and a number of great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death three brothers, Norman Wilson Reed, Paul Edward Reed, and Harry Thomas Reed; and three sisters, Minnie Elizabeth (Reed) Dowdy, Gloria Christine (Reed) Reynolds, and Constance Fay (Reed) Reynolds.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 24, 2023 at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens by Reverend Russell Heinrich.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society (1445 Rio Road East, Suite 104, Charlottesville, VA 22901) or the Dementia Society of America (PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901).
