Matthew Stuart Hamilton, 53, of Staunton, passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
He was born in Staunton, the son of Ronald Dale Hamilton and Letitia “Toni” Sue Manspile Montgomery.
In his younger years, Matthew was an avid hunter who enjoyed spending time outdoors. He also had a lifelong love of automobile racing, especially at Eastside Speedway in Waynesboro and other racetracks throughout the region and across Virginia. His greatest passion within the sport was drag racing, and he traveled along the east coast to compete with his dragsters.
Above all, Matthew loved his children more than anything. They were the greatest source of joy in his life, and the time he shared with them meant more to him than anything.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his beloved children, Ralynn and Carson Hamiton.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Forest Leeman and Mary Janet Powell Hamilton, and his maternal grandparents, Wallace Coleman and Phyllis Estelle Huffman Manspile. As the only grandson on both sides of his family, Matthew held a special place among his grandparents.
Services will be announced at a later date.
