WEST AUGUSTA – Melvin Raymond Humphries, Jr., 64, died October 21, 2021 at Augusta Health.
Mr. Humphries was born in Staunton on October 7, 1957 to the late Melvin Raymond Humphries, Sr. and Charlotte (Campbell) Humphries.
He was a carpenter and worked for R.L. Flint, Jr., General Contractor and was also an independent contractor. He was a graduate from Fort Defiance and attended Valley VoTech for two years. He was a member of Churchville Fire and Rescue. Melvin enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and also liked to cook. He would lend a helping hand to anyone and will be deeply missed.
Mr. Humphries is survived by three sons, Ray Humphries, Daniel Humphries and fiancé Maggie, and Jacob Humphries; a daughter, Jenny Humphries; two brothers, John Humphries (Bernadette) and Kirk Humphries (Cherish); a sister Gail Gardener; grandchildren, Caden and Cole Griffin and Brianna Borrell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Pamela Humphries.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 29, 2021 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Doug Cox.
