Nelson D. Hylton

Nelson Dillon Hylton, 71, widower of Virginia Lee (Hevener) Hylton, of Staunton, died Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Augusta Health.

He was born November 15, 1949, in Rockbridge, a son of the late Walter Dillon and Creola Ethel (Moles) Hylton.

Prior to retirement, Nelson was employed as a police officer with the Staunton Police Department and was also a truck driver for Swisher Mail.

Family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Ashley Hylton; a sister and brother-in-law, Andra and Clyde Moyers; two grandchildren, Dharma and Dominic Hylton; two nephews, Clyde Moyers and wife, Whitney and Jason Wills; a niece, Beth Wills; and great nephews, Dillon Moyers and Austin Moyers.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2021 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Russell Heinrich. The family will receive friends following the service in the funeral home.
