Norma Jean (Stogdale) Friedrich, 77, widow of Dennis Charles Friedrich, of Barboursville, died Friday, May 28, 2021 at Westport Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
She was born in Staunton, a daughter of the late Ernest Russell and Ada (Rowe) Stogdale. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
Norma’s 40-plus year career with the U.S. Government included positions with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and The United States Army Foreign Science and Technology Center (FSTC) which later became the United States Army National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC) in Charlottesville from which she retired in 2004.
Over the years, Norma loved travelling with her husband, antique shopping, cooking, sitting on her front porch with family and neighbors, and watching the birds from her living room window. She was most proud of her childrens’ accomplishments and cherished spending time with her grandchildren. Animals always held a special place in her heart, especially her beloved cats, Homer and Angel.
Family members include two daughters, Renee Eichman and husband, Todd, and Stefanie Friedrich; two granddaughters, Heather and Lauren Eichman; a sister in-law, Marion “Cookie” Friedrich; Cousins Barbara Lipski, Helen Stogdale, June Via, Dot Bright, Nancy Weade, Nadine Hinebaugh, Shelvie Critzer; nieces Karen Friedrich and Michelle Hyatt and husband Jimmy; and nephew David Friedrich.
The family would like to thank friends, neighbors and her caregivers with Ascend Hospice for the help and support provided the last few months.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021 in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Russell Heinrich. Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
