Norma Louise Wentworth Greenleaf, 90, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Birch Gardens Assisted Living in Staunton.

She was born on January 24, 1933, in Fayette, Maine to the late David Raymond and Viola Ethlyne Lieber Wentworth, Sr.

Norma had a fulfilling career as an assembler for the biotech company Ventrex Labs in Portland, Maine. She dedicated her time and effort to her work, contributing to the advancements in the field.

Outside of her professional life, Norma was deeply involved in various hobbies and interests. She found solace and spiritual nourishment as an active member of the Staunton Mennonite Church. She also possessed a love for puzzles and could often be found engrossed in the challenge of unraveling their mysteries. Norma's fondness for nature and history inspired her to explore the world around her. Whether it was visiting the ocean and marveling at Maine's breathtaking coastline or living amidst the mountains of Virginia in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, she cherished every moment spent in these serene landscapes.

Norma enjoyed meeting new people. Her warm and welcoming nature endeared her to those whom she crossed paths. She deeply valued the connections she formed, whether they were lifelong friendships or chance encounters.

Family held a special place in Norma's heart. She delighted in spending time with her loved ones and treasured every moment shared together. She is survived by her son, Michael Donald Greenleaf; her daughter, Sandra Greenleaf Violette; her brother, James A. Wentworth, her sister, Ruth E. Wentworth Hiltz; her grandchildren, Christopher Bartlett, Ami Violette, Jessica Greenleaf, Arianna Greenleaf, and her great-grandchild, Aedan Bartlett.
 
In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Mahlon Greenleaf, her brothers, Dale Curtis Wentworth, Sr. and David Raymond Wentworth, Jr., and her beloved pet cat, Duff.
 
A memorial service will be held Monday, October 2, 2023, at 3:00pm at Staunton Mennonite Church. A graveside service will be held in late spring 2024 at Lakeview Cemetery in Wilton, Maine.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Staunton Augusta Rescue Squad (1601 North Coalter Street, Staunton, VA 24401, www.svarescue.org ), the Staunton Mennonite Church (2405 Third Street, Staunton, VA 24401, www.mennochurch.net ) or to the Valley Mission (1513 West Beverley Street, Staunton, VA 24401, www.valleymission.net ).
 

Norma Louise Greenleaf's presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her dedication to her work, dedicated faith, love for nature, and strong bonds with family and friends leave behind a legacy of kindness and warmth.
