Norma Faye Crosier Pomphrey, 86, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at her residence in Verona.
She was born on January 4, 1940, in Waiteville, West Virginia to the late Perry Alvin, Sr. and Garnette Lucille Bostic Crosier.
Norma dedicated her life to caring for her home and those she loved. She found great joy in gardening, tending both her flowers and vegetable gardens. She also loved to travel, especially to her favorite places in Tennessee - Nashville and the Smoky Mountains.
Norma enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including going out to eat and spending time with family and friends. She was especially known for her cooking, and her famous homemade rolls.
A woman of strong faith, Norma was a former member of Shenandoah Baptist Church in Verona. Despite facing numerous health challenges, she remained a fighter, always maintaining a positive attitude and a strong spirit that inspired those around her.
She is survived by her sons, Charles “Doug” Douglas Pomphrey, Jr. and his wife, Yazmin and Jerry Flynn Pomphrey and his wife, Carla; her daughter, Terri Lynn Pomphrey; her sister, Brenda Gayle Crosier Vaughn; her grandchildren, Charles Douglas, III, Meredith Marie, John Douglas, and Andrea Kate Pomphrey; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Douglas Pomphrey, Sr.; her brothers, Richard Gerald, Curtis Seldon, Carl Roger, Perry Alvin, Jr., Raymond Leon, Jimmy Dean, and George “Don” Donald Crosier; and her sisters, Emma Lee Crosier Sprague, Peggy Joyce Crosier Karicofe, and Sandra Kay Crosier.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton with Pastor Dana Wade officiating.
Interment will immediately follow at Pleasant View Lutheran Church Cemetery in Staunton.
