Pastor Peter E. Grimm

Pastor Peter Ellis Grimm, 73, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

He was born on September 1, 1952, in Harrisonburg to the late John Harvey, Sr. and Mary Bell McAllister Grimm.

For more than thirty-eight years, Peter was employed in the Maintenance Department at Western State Hospital in Staunton.

A lifelong servant of the Lord, Peter was a faithful member of Laurel Hill Full Gospel Church in Verona since 1962. His love for the church was evident throughout his life. Beginning in 1976, he assisted Pastor Strickler by helping lead worship services and teaching the Adult Sunday School class, a ministry he continued through 2020. Following Pastor Strickler's passing, Peter answered God's call to serve as the church's Senior Pastor.

Peter's greatest joy was serving the Lord. He deeply loved his church and his church family, and he devoted countless hours to sharing God's Word.

He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Joanna Kay Strickler Grimm; his brother, Charles Lemuel Grimm; his sisters, Evelyn Belle Grimm Craig, Maxine Grimm Martin, and Gurline Grimm Morris; his mother-in-law, Maxine Strickler; many very dear nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law; and special church helpers, Ronnie and Billy.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, John Harvey Grimm, Jr.; his sisters, Mary Martha Grimm and Hazel Lee Grimm Starnes; and his dear father-in-law, Pastor William Strickler.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Laurel Hill Full Gospel Church in Verona.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday August 1, 2026, at Laurel Hill Full Gospel Church in Verona with Pastors Paul Markee, Travis Kidd, and Reverend Adam Terry.

Interment will immediately follow at Port Republic Cemetery in Port Republic.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Steve Shickel, Aaron Atkins, C.J. Carter, Charles Grimm, Jr., Scott Buchanan, Colton Buchanan, Terry Price, and Allen Strickler.

Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews.
