Patricia “Pat” Fry Blackley, 71, of 1207 Stocker Street, Staunton, died peacefully in her sleep at 1:45AM on Tuesday morning, May 7, 2024, at Shenandoah House, Fishersville, Virginia. 

She was born July 4, 1952, in Staunton, a daughter of the late James E. Fry and Mildred B. Fry.

She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Staunton, VA and was Valedictorian of her class when graduating from Elizabeth Brant School of Business. She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of Presbyterian Women an organization, she served in several leadership roles for which she was awarded the Life Membership Award. In her 30s, after her husband had established his business, she sought and achieved a BBA in Marketing from The College of Business, James Madison University, graduating in 1987. Pat worked for many years in banking and real estate appraisal until she left her paid positions and devoted her attention to the care of her aged and declining parents. Pat went on to be an accomplished and published writer of several travel books and many magazine articles. She and her husband created a stock photography business that took them around all North America for over 20 years. Pat was a member of the Board of SPCA and a very active volunteer at Salvation Army where she was awarded Volunteer of the Year.

In addition to her husband of 52 years, Charles “Chuck” P. Blackley, Jr., she is survived by a brother, Jerry E. Fry and his wife, Linda F. Fry and their children Stephanie Thai Buchanan and her husband, Bruce of Louisville, CO and Matthew J Fry of Cheyenne, WY, and his wife, Vicky H. Fry and their children Ainsley Fry and Everett Fry. Additionally, she is survived by her uncle, Harold B. Fry and his wife, Patricia and her aunt, Betty L. Jackson and her husband, Aubrey, along with numerous cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM-8:00PM on Monday May 13, 2024, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00AM on Tuesday May 14, 2024, at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton with the Reverend Doctor Evan Smith officiating.

The family extends their thanks to all those who sent cards and prayers to Pat and her husband over the term of Pat’s illness. The family would like to offer special thanks to the angels who took care of Pat at the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah’s Shenandoah House in Fishersville.
