Patsy “Pappie” Ruth Hinkle Bright, 76, formerly of Churchville, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, in Roanoke.
She was born January 6, 1950, to the late Robert Edward Lee and Ruth Eunice Propst Hinkle.
Patsy dedicated 40 years of her life to caring for others as a proud and compassionate nurse. She was a devoted Elder at Loch Willow Presbyterian Church in Churchville and faithfully served her community in many ways. In recognition of her service and commitment, she was honored with the Lifetime Auxiliary Award from the Churchville Fire Department.
In her free time, Patsy found joy in quilting, gardening, and thrifting, simple pleasures that reflected her creative spirit and appreciation for life’s small treasures.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Lou Simmons; and her brothers, Paul Edward (Debbie) and Richard Lee Hinkle (Delores).
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John David Bright, to whom she was happily married for 50 years; and her brothers, James Dale Hinkle, and William David Hinkle.
A graveside service will be held at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 11:00 AM, with Reverend Reed Hopkins officiating. There will be no public viewing.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Good Samaritan Hospice House of Roanoke for their compassion, love, and support during this time.
