WAYNESBORO– Philip Lee Weaver, 79, owner of Mourning Dove Farm in Waynesboro, VA peacefully grabbed the hand of God and entered his heavenly home on Monday August 2, 2021. Mr. Weaver was surrounded by his family as his battle with cancer concluded.

Mr. Weaver was a proud veteran of the US Navy serving his country during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement he worked for American Safety Razor Company for 36 years. His passion was found in his American Quarter Horses, throughout his life he raised dozen of horses and competed in cutting shows across the country.

Mr. Weaver was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, a committee member of the Friends of the NRA Shenandoah Valley, a Lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association and a member of the National Cutting Horse Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Franklin and Gladys Pricilla Cupp Weaver; two sister, Frances Shuey and Judith Weaver and brother Jim Weaver.

Family members left to cherish his memory are, Prissy Shuey, his niece, best friend, and longtime caretaker. Nieces and Nephews ; Debbie Knott and husband, Kenny, of Kingsport, Tennessee, Billy Shuey and wife, Carol, of Swoope, Janette Shipe and husband, Bobby, of Staunton, Becky Terry and husband, Ronnie, of Staunton, and Meade Shuey and partner Christine, of Swoope.

Great Nieces and Nephew, Timothy Shipe of Staunton; Tabatha Bell and husband Justin of Waynesboro; Contina Salyer and husband Matt of Lucas, NC; April Taylor and Husband Rick of Maryville, TN; Joey Harman and wife Janette of Raphine, Sammy and Danny Shuey of Swoope, Thomas Terry of Staunton.

The family would like to extend it’s heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Rob Marsh for his passionate care and guidance and to Augusta Health Hospices.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m Saturday, August 7, 2021, at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Steve Taylor. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Lutheran Church.

Active pallbearers will be Andy Coffman, Johnny Coffman, Johnny Hardy, Leon Yates, John Wagner and Ronnie Roach. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Friends of NRA Shenandoah Chapter.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2021, at Henry Funeral Home. Friends are also welcome to visit the family at Mr. Weavers home located at 2609 Long Meadow Road, Waynesboro.
