Rhonda Ann Smith Morrison, 69, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at her residence in Augusta County.
She was born on February 13, 1955, in Charlottesville, to Marjorie Inez Slayter Smith Gianniny and the late Earl "Smitty" Washington Smith.
Throughout her life, Rhonda found immense joy and fulfillment in her role as an educator. She devoted many years to shaping young minds as a beloved instructor at Grace Christian School in Staunton, where she became a favorite among many of her students. Her dedication and passion for teaching left a lasting, Christ-centered impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Rhonda's commitment to her family was unwavering. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her loving husband, John Lord Morrison; her daughters, Stacy Ann and Morgan Frances Gardner; her step-daughters, Margaret Grace Morrison Guedet and her husband, J, and Rebecca Anne Morrison; her grandchildren, Hayden Crenshaw, Lyric Gardner, Addie Reich, Lucy Campbell, Robyn Campbell, Natalie Crane and her husband, Harrison, JJ Guedet, Ty Guedet, and Dani Guedet; a sister, Marcia Yvonne Smith Pecor and her husband, David; and brothers-in-law, Lew Morrison and his wife, Lisa, and David and Paul Morrison.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Robert "Bob" Morris Gardner.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Rhonda's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Memorial Baptist Church in Staunton with Pastor Brian Fitzgerald officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
She will be inurned at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton with a private ceremony.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that those desiring may make memorial donations to the Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center at UVA Medical Center (1240 Lee Street, Charlottesville, VA 22903) or to the Hospice of the Piedmont (675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911).
