Richard L. Bailey

Richard Lynn Bailey Sr., 69, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025, in Fishersville, Virginia. 

Born on April 12, 1956, in Wayne, West Virginia, Richard's life was a tapestry woven with love for family and the enduring beauty of craftsmanship.

For forty eight cherished years, he shared a steadfast bond with his beloved wife, Evelyn Bailey. Together they nurtured a home filled with warmth and devotion. Richard was a proud father to Felicia Bailey, Shawnta (Bailey) Terry, Richard Bailey Jr., and Joseph Bailey. His heart found joy in his nine grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren, each one adding light to his days. He also held a close connection with his sister, Edith Couch.

Richard was preceded in death by his brothers Fred Bailey, Charles Bailey, Jerry Bailey, and Oscar Bailey Jr., as well as sisters Nancy Spears, Margaret Bryant, Patty Joe Berry,  Elizabeth Comer, Verla Green, and Retha Kimbrough. Their memories remained etched deeply into the fabric of his life.

A master woodworker by both trade and passion, Richard transformed raw timber into lasting art - elegant cabinets, custom furniture pieces, and even speaker boxes crafted with care for his nephews. Each creation was more than just functional; it carried the quiet poetry of hands that worked with purpose and pride.

His legacy lies not only in finely sanded corners or dovetail joints, but in the stories shared around tables he built and the laughter echoing through rooms his work helped shape. The love he poured into every detail endures wherever his craft resides.

Family and Friends are welcome to gather on Saturday, November 29, 2025, to celebrate and reminisce about Richard’s life. Gathering with friends and family around the table brought joy to Richard. Join us at Ray of Hope Church (1450 Reservoir Street Harrisonburg, VA 22801) from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
