Ricky Stevenson Redman, Sr., 70, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, at his residence in Staunton.
He was born on February 21, 1956, in Petersburg, West Virginia to the late Richard “Dick” Roscoe, Sr. and Celestine Virginia Redman.
Ricky proudly served his country in the United States Navy for eight years. Following his military service, he worked as a welder for Fairfield Bridge Company, where he was known for his skill, reliability, and work ethic. He also enjoyed pouring concrete, taking pride in hands-on work.
A member of Smokey Row Baptist Church in Staunton, Ricky valued his church family and the role faith played in his life. He had a gift for making people smile and will be remembered for his love for telling jokes.
Ricky had a deep appreciation for music and sports, especially baseball and football. He was a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, supporting them on every chance he got.
Above all, Ricky loved his family. He cherished every moment spent with them, and his grandchildren held a special place in his heart.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Ann Doctor Redman; his son, Ricky Redman, Jr.; his daughter, Stephanie Crawford (Chris); his brothers, Richard Roscoe, Jr., Leroy, and Gary Redman; his sisters, Lisa D. Redman Clifford, Vicki Virginia Redman Reed (Tim), Jacqueline Redman Robinson (James) and Penny Lynn Redman, Karen Wright (Conway), Naomi Hilliard, and Gretchen Bruce; his grandchildren, Tyson Redman, Cheyenne Lender, Uriah Adkins, Shaun Allen, and Rian Strickland; his great-grandchildren, Emelia, Gioia, Tyson, Jr., and Ryder; his very best friend, Matt Coffey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, McGuire and Lillian Redman; his brothers, Jay, Adolphus, Kenneth, Ronnie, and Tony “Duck” Redman; and his sister, Loma Yvonne Redman Jamison.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton with Pastor Karen Wright officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 12:00 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah (Augusta Health, P.O. Box 909, Fishersville, VA 22939).
