Ritchie A. Michael

Ritchie “Rick” Allan Michael, 56, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024, at his residence in Staunton, due to natural causes.

He was born on February 23, 1968, in Staunton to the late Edgar Crawford, Jr. and Kay Schanagel Michael.

Throughout his life, Rick displayed unwavering support to his favorite teams, passionately supporting UVA, the LA Rams, and the Atlanta Braves. His enthusiasm extended beyond fandom, as he actively participated in sports, embracing his love for baseball, basketball, and golf. Ricks competitive nature was evident whether it was on the field, the court, or the golf course, where he always strived for excellence.

In addition to his passion for sports, Rick took immense pride in his work, demonstrating a remarkable attention to detail in everything he undertook. This meticulousness also extended to his beloved truck, which he kept in immaculate condition. Beyond his interests in sports and work, Rick loved his cats, which he shared a special bond with.

He is survived by his son, Tyler Steven Michael and his wife, Brandi; his sister, Elaine Lynn Michael; his grandchildren, Adalyn and Liam Michael; his nephew, W.A. Ruleman; his niece, Jamyn Sease; his close friend, Melony; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Debbie Ray Michael Ruleman.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton with Pastor Stacey Burkholder officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM.

Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Hall, Vince Mondragon, Victor Ruleman, W.A. Ruleman, James McBride, and Caleb McBride.

Interment will follow at Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery in Mount Sidney
