Robert Lowell Pack, husband of Leah S. Pack, of Staunton, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Summit Square Retirement Community in Waynesboro.
Bob was born in Staunton, on September 23, 1930 and was the son of the late Albert H., Sr. and Emily Tyree Pack.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Stanley D. and Stephen D. Pack; his daughter, Shana Pack Walker; his grandchildren. Elizabeth P. Brown, Sydney P. Lambert; his great-grandsons, Coy Wimer and Mason Brown; and his great-great grandchildren; Hudson and Emerson Wimer.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Albert H. Pack Jr.; a sister, Nancy Pack Fainter; and a son, Stewart D. “Whitey” Pack.
In the beginning of his career, he was employed with the Virginia Department of Highways as a road design engineer and assisted with designing sections of Interstate 81. He considered himself fortunate as he later worked as a construction engineer with Moore Brothers, Inc. of Verona and assisted with building sections of the road and bridges he helped design. He later became President of March Excavation, Inc. of Waynesboro until his retirement. He was also involved with real estate, home construction, and subdivision development in the Staunton and Augusta County area. He was an active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, a past member of the Staunton Augusta Board of Realtors, and the Virginia Road Builders. He was also a member of the Staunton Elks Lodge No. 351.
Bob had a strong sense of loyalty to his family and friends. He never met a stranger and accepted all with a non-judgemental curiosity to know about their lives. He was inquisitive and loved learning new things. He was full of knowledge from his life experiences and was a master at sharing those experiences with others. Bob’s love of life, kindness, and generosity touched many, many lives and all were proud to be called his friend.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 9, 2025, at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Staunton with the Reverend Jonathan Greer officiating. A reception will follow.
The family requests no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank (P.O. Box 937, Verona, VA 24482), the Valley Mission (1513 West Beverley Street, Staunton, Virginia 24401) or to St. John’s United Methodist Church (1716 N Augusta St, Staunton, VA 24401).
