Samuel "Peck" A. Thomas III

Samuel A. Thomas III "Peck", husband of Rebecca M. Thomas, passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

Peck was born on November 12, 1953, in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Samuel Albert Thomas Jr and Ruby Lucinda Thomas.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Julia Marston Thomas of Georgia; his son, David Samuel Thomas of Charlottesville; and his siblings, Sherry (James) Tunstill of Decatur, Alabama, Kay (Matt) Mathis of Lithonia, Georgia, Diane (Heath) Belk of Lexington, North Carolina, and Sammye Swing of Christiansburg. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Susan Mowery and numerous nieces and nephews.

Peck opened Peck's BBQ in Fishersville, VA in the early 1980s, moving to his Waynesboro location for many years, and then moving to Staunton in 2009. 

Peck was known for his generosity to his customers and community. 

There will be no formal services and the scattering of his ashes will be at his family cemetery in South Carolina at a later date.
