On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, just before 1:30 PM, Stephanie Michelle Trees stepped into heaven into her Savior's loving arms after a valiant fight with cancer.
Stephanie was born on May 31, 1988, in Roanoke, VA, to Mike and Beth Trees.
She grew up as the life of the party, always coming up with ideas for games to play or home videos to make with her friends, and often appearing in the living room unannounced in a new costume she had come up with.
Through high school she spent her time juggling homework and sports, while devoting her life to her Savior, serving in her church and on missions teams.
Stephanie graduated from Temple Baptist School in Herndon, VA and went on to Pensacola Christian College to obtain her BS in education and MS in academic leadership. She then returned to Temple and devoted herself to 5th graders for two years, making sure her class was always the most fun, engaging, and rewarding experience for her students to grow both academically and spiritually.
After moving to Stuarts Draft in 2017, she got a degree in interior design, but her final job was working for Stapleton Elderlaw where she gave all her heart to represent God.
If she'd had her way though, her real job would have been professional gift-giver. Nothing gave her more joy than finding the perfect gift for someone, and nobody could stop her from buying that “one thing” that she knew one of her friends or family members would love.
She adored her family, friends and coworkers, and her only regret with leaving this world early was not having the privilege of being involved in the lives of her nieces and nephews as they grow up and drawing them toward God.
Stephanie was a faithful member of Valley Baptist Church in Stuarts Draft, VA. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and masters club and could always be found helping in the nursery. Besides a beautiful soprano voice that she used to glorify God, her second spiritual gift was service. Stephanie had a heart of gold and would give away her last dime if someone else was in need and used her interior design skills to add color to every place and life she touched.
Stephanie was extremely grateful for the care she received during her illness. Especially dear to her were Dr. Landen, Dr McGouglin and Dr. Gilgannon, the many nurses of 5 central, who often fought over being able to care for her and the nurses of Augusta Home Health, especially Melanie Bailey, who all renewed her faith in the medical profession.
Stephanie is survived by her parents, Beth, of Stuarts Draft, and Mike, of Leesburg, her sister, Anna Hall and brother-in-law, Tim of Stuarts Draft; her brother, Joey and sister-in-law and best friend, Jules of Greenville, SC; her nieces, Emilee, Kara, Lydia, Alayna, Evalyn and Noelle; and her two nephews, Hudson and Weston; her maternal grandparents, Sam and Fran Vaughan; her aunt, Tammy; her uncle, SR; and aunt, Lisa; her cousins, Trey and Bailey; and many good friends. She is also survived by her "second parents", Arnie and Susan Enriquez, of Ashburn, VA, and her little dog, TJ.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 2:00 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held to honor Stephanie on Sunday, February 1, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Valley Baptist Church, 26 Sunny Slope Lane, Stuarts Draft, VA, 24477. The service will be livestreamed for those who cannot travel.
For those who attend, we ask that you wear bright colors that would make Stephanie smile. Her favorite color was red.
Memorial donations may be made in her honor to Augusta Health Home Health (c/o Augusta Health Foundation, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939).
Henry Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
