STUART E. TUTWILER STAUNTON, VA… Stuart Eugene “Gene” Tutwiler, 83, husband of Peggy Tutwiler, of 822 Berry Farm Road, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016, in Augusta Health, Fishersville. He was born September 19, 1932, in Rockingham County, a son of the late Stuart Cecil Tutwiler and Myrtle Glover Tutwiler Jarvis. He was a wonderful carpenter, building his home. He retired from Mary Baldwin College. He loved hunting, fishing, and traveling to the ocean. Gardening was his favorite pass time and watching sports on T.V. He was a member of Verona United Methodist Church. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. In addition to his loving wife of 65 years, family members include a son, Gary W. Tutwiler and fiancé`, Beth Shifflett, of Staunton; a grandson, Brian Tutwiler and wife, Leslie, of Churchville; a granddaughter, Stephanie Tutwiler of Verona; special great grandson, Brendan Tutwiler of Churchville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Frances Tutwiler of Staunton and Marlene and Steve Edwards of Durham, North Carolina; a brother-in-law, Ken Cason and wife, Marie, of Verona; two sisters-in-law, Betty Wymer of Staunton and Linda Johnson of Fredericksburg; a nephew, Geoffrey Edwards and wife, Tara, of Durham, North Carolina; a great niece, Kayleigh Edwards; a great nephew, Riley Edwards; four nieces, Debbie Crawford, Anita Shackleford, Teresa Cason, and Carol Hardin; a nephew, Kenny Cason; step grandson, Jesse Ream and family; and step great grandchildren, Codie, Allie, and Riley. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016, in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Pastor Bob Weeks. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Brian Tutwiler, Geoffrey Edwards, Kenny Cason, Rawley Ham, Jesse Ream, and Gary Whitmer. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. The family would like to send a special thanks to Shenandoah Nursing Home and Rehab and Augusta Health nurses for the care given to him.
