The Livingston Family

Peter Livingston and his wife, Donna, both 48, along with their daughters, Everly, 14, and Alydia, 11, passed away together as a family on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, aboard American Airlines Flight 5342.

Peter was born on May 18, 1976 in Petersburg, Virginia and is survived by his parents, Sterling and Martha Livingston; his brother, Albert (Melinda) Livingston; his sister, Sarah Kinzer (Gary); and his nieces and nephews, Max, Fisher, Frank, and Molly.

Peter graduated from Oakton High School in 1994 and went on to serve as a trusted Realtor with Keller Williams, where he was recognized by the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors as a top producer for multiple years. Peter was lauded for his patience and care with buyers, and for his mockery of homes with bathroom chandeliers. Peter was an avid skater, hockey player, licensed USFA Figure skating instructor, builder of annual backyard ice rinks, prolific photographer, lover of D.C. at sunrise, outspoken person of conviction, dreamer of impossible dreams he made happen for himself and others. Foremost Peter was a loving, dedicated husband and father whose greatest joy was sharing his passion for skating with his daughters and championing them to success.

Donna (Smojice) Livingston was born on December 8, 1976, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and is survived by her mother, Mary Smojice; her brother, Mark (Sally) Smojice; and her niece and nephew, Maddy and Brody Smojice. She is reunited in death with her father, William Smojice.

Donna graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1999 and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority where she met several lifelong sisters. Highly driven and ambitious, she went on to work in marketing for Discovery Communications and AOL before landing at Comcast where she excelled over the last 16 years. Donna’s infectious energy extended beyond her career as a beloved friend, Cricut crafter, shopping enthusiast, and dedicated skating mom and wife. Peter and Donna met in 2006 and were married in Jamaica on November 21, 2009.

On September 27, 2010, Everly Pearl was born in Sterling, VA. Her sister, Alydia Steele, also born in Sterling, completed the Livingston family, born on September 29, 2013. Both girls were elite national skaters excelling both in ice and inline skating.

Everly was reserved but confident and aspiring, brimming with love spiced with a pinch of Stitches’ mischief. She excelled as a athlete: dancer, swimmer, skater … graceful, empathic, powerful. A National Junior Scholar, dedicated student, aspiring writer, engaged learner. She was a prolific artist, crafter: proficient with a sewing machine and crochet hooks; baker of cookies and elaborately decorated cakes. Everly was a horse whisper, lover of dogs, lizards, frogs and Junior Mints. Her goal was to make Team USA, travel the world and participate in the 2030 Winter Olympics.

Alydia like a ray of sunshine passing through a prism embraced the world with a swirl of rainbows. Sassy, laughing, effervescent … a natural entertainer in figure skating, ice dancing, pairs and inline skating: excelling in all, the whole world was her stage. An avid seller of Girl Scout cookies, she loved traveling with Brown Teddy, cake pops, restaurant food tours, zip-line jumping, beaches, horseback riding and documenting her adventures by writing Brown Teddy stories. Enthusiast of Virginia and family history she loved collecting artifacts and crafting pottery. Alydia aspired to skate for Disney on Ice.

The Livingston family was devoted to the girls’ figure skating and spent their final days together immersed in what they loved. There are personal goals, like the girls’ dream to skate in the Olympics and with Disney on Ice one day. Then there are goals shared by us all - to leave this Earth surrounded by those we love having lived a life full of passion. Both goals are achieved by few. The Livingstons fulfilled the hardest one. And we’re certain that the Olympics, Disney on Ice, Livingston Ice House and Skating Academy were in the bag. Stay Close to Jesus and Dream Big!

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton. 

Inurnment at Pleasant View Lutheran Church Cemetery in Staunton will immediately follow.
