Staunton - Thelma Joyce Thacker Watts, 92, passed away on May 31, 2022 at her home in Staunton, Virginia.
Joyce was born on November 12, 1929, a daughter, to the late Jesse James Gwin and Lorena E. Thomas Gwin.
Prior to retirement, she was employed as a payroll supervisor at the Naval Air Station, Oceana, in Norfolk, Virginia. She moved back to Staunton in 1991 and was a long-time caretaker for her mother until her mother’s passing.
Family members include daughters, Renee and her husband, David McChesney, II of Staunton, and Regina Osborne of Roanoke; grandchildren, Matthew and Dana McChesney, and Nathan McChesney; and great-grandson, Maxwell McChesney.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Jesse Glenn Gwin.
A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, June 8th at 2:00 pm at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro, Virginia by her son-in-law David McChesney.
