Vera E. Moats

Vera Ellen Moats, 78, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026, at the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah House in Fishersville.

Vera was born on June 2, 1948 in Petersburg, West Virginia to the late Charles Johnson and Anna Elizabeth Redman.

She loved her grandchildren dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. Vera was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of the Church on the Hill and also, a member of the Christian Women Fellowship.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Tommy Redman, Charles B. Redman, Richard R. Redman, Harry G. Redman, Neil W. Redman, Paul A. Redman, and Charlotte G. Redman Grande; and her granddaughters, Jasmyne C. Hayslett, Whitney L. Woodley, and Lea S. Moats.

Vera is survived by her daughters, Angela Tabler (Jeremy) of Crimora, Veronica Willis (Joseph) of Roschron, Texas, and Derithea Moats of Stuarts Draft; her very special niece (sister), Jacqueline Robinson; her grandchildren, Shantee Bryant, Jonah Santiago, Ronin Tabler, Titus Tabler, Andre Spiller, Corey Spiller, Britnei Moats, Brendan Bell, Tonisha Snyder, Kereil Kindle, and Christian Moats; and her great-grandchildren, Arian Bennett, Levon Woodley, Lathan Woodley, Nylah Woodley, Aiden Tabler, Mia Spiller, Ava Spiller, Kamorah Spiller, Briael Reed, Tre Reed, Bliss Moats, Jade Bell, Eric Yarberough, Jazarah Yarbrough, and Nimah Yarbrough.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton. Friends may call at the funeral home an hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM.

Interment will follow the service at Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton.
