Virginia Ann Strickler, 93, widow of Walter “W.F.” Strickler, passed away on January 2, 2023 at her residence.
Virginia was born on May 27, 1929 in Staunton, Virginia to the late Walter T. Rosen and Margaret Virginia (Miller) Rosen.
Virginia attended Mary Baldwin College and Dunmore Business College. She served as Deputy Treasurer for Augusta County. Virginia was an active member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, where she served as an organist for over 40 years. Additionally, she served as a Girl Scout Leader and worked for the Stonewall Boy Scout Organization.
She is survived by her sons, Mark Rosen Strickler and his wife, Katherine Lee; David Strickler and his wife, Melodie Lynn Boggs Strickler; a daughter, Jane Martin Mooney, and her husband, Roger D. Mooney; her grandchildren, Lee Ann Barr and her husband Jon Barr; Mark R. Strickler, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth; Virginia Hart and her husband, Jake Hart; Bethany Strickler; Marisa Strickler; and Sarah V. Berry Ann and her husband, Nathan; and her great-grandchildren, Jackson, Carson, Hudson, Beatrix, Graham, Ava, and Hannah.
The family will receive friends on Thursday January 5, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Henry Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Friday January 6, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church by Pastor Lance Braun.
Active pallbearers will be Mike McCray, Tim Turner, Phil Rosen, Ted Hanger, Joe Whitehead, and John Kiser. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Hanger, Donnie Clark, and Joe Vecchioli.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church 334 Mt. Tabor Rd., Staunton, VA 24401.
