Ward D. Terrell, III

Listen to Obituary

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Ward Douglas Terrell, III, lovingly known as “Doug”, “Paw Paw”, and “Pop Pop”, who departed this life on Monday, October 19, 2026, at 6:53 PM.

Doug was a kind, generous, and loving soul whose heart was filled with an abundance of love for everyone around him. He had a special gift for making people smile and laugh, bringing light into the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. His laughter was contagious, his generosity knew no limits, and his love was felt in the little things he did every day. Even when he had little to give, Doug found a way to give to others. He understood that the greatest gifts in life were not measured by money or possessions, but by the love we share, the kindness we show, and the happiness we bring to others. He gave freely from his heart, never allowing what he lacked to stop him from blessing someone else.

Above all else, Doug cherished his family. His beloved mother held a special place in his heart, and his love for his children and grandchildren was immeasurable. Being called “Dad”, “Paw Paw”, or “Pop Pop” was among his greatest joys. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he loved them more than life itself. They were a precious part of his world, and the love he poured into them will remain a lasting part of their lives forever.

Doug leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured in years, possessions, or accomplishments, but in the countless smiles he inspired, the laughter he shared, the generosity he showed, and the love he gave so freely. Though his earthly journey has come to an end, the memories he created and the love he planted in the hearts of his family will continue to grow for generations to come.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving mother, Frances Christine Terrell; his two children, Joshua Cody Terrell (Megan Terrell) and Arielle Rena Terrell, both of Lyndhurst; and his seven beloved grandchildren, Jacob Tihanyi, Joshua Terrell Jr., Chrissy Terrell, Tommy Terrell, Robbie Terrell, Zayne Terrell, and Zaccari Terrell.

He also leaves behind his beloved cousins, Chad Groah, and Tammy Cowgill, along with all those whose lives were touched by his kindness, laughter, and love.

He was preceded in death by his beloved father and the light of his life, Ward Terrell, Jr., whose memory remained an important part of his story, and His Aunt Shirley whom he adored.

Though our hearts ache in his absence, we find comfort in our faith and in the promise that love does not end with death. We trust that God, in His infinite mercy, has welcomed Doug into His eternal peace, where sorrow is no more, pain has ended, and everlasting joy begins. The sound of his laughter may grow quiet in this world, but it will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved him.

His presence will be missed at family gatherings, his smile will be remembered in the hardest moments, and his love will remain a guiding light for those he leaves behind. Doug was loved beyond words, cherished beyond measure, and will be missed beyond what the heart can express.

Rest peacefully, Doug. You will forever be “Dad”. You will forever be “Paw Paw”. You will forever be “Pop Pop”. Until we meet again, may you rest in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father, reunited with your beloved dad, and surrounded by the eternal peace of God’s love.

“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
