Willard Borden “Bill” Cline, 95, husband of Mary Anna (Flory) Cline passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023 at The Retreat at Fishersville.
Willard was born on February 17, 1928 in Augusta County to the late Daniel Arlie and Mary Elizabeth (Borden) Cline, where he was raised on the family farm in New Hope.
He was a 1946 graduate of New Hope High School.
He was a life long dairy farmer, being the owner of Meadow Run Dairy, Inc., which he operated along with a son, Bernie, and his grandsons. With his son, Mike, he served as a co-founder of C&C Farm Supply. He was a founding Board of Directors member of the Verona Community Bank and Trust. He proudly served on the Augusta County Board of Supervisors for twelve years and also served as a board member in other numerous farm related organizations. He was a devoted member of the Church of the Brethren, serving in various capacities.
He was a pillar in the community and was respected by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was the patriarch of his large and loving family and his farm, the family homeplace, was a happy one where many wonderful memories were created.
In addition to his loving wife of 72 years whom he married on July 15, 1950, he is survived by his children, Jeffrey Willard Cline and his wife, Candy, Jennifer (Cline) Robertson, Mike Cline and his wife, Ann, and Bernard “Bernie” Cline; his sisters, Nell Wright, Ruth Talmage and Jane Mundy; his grandchildren, Matthew Cline, Morgan King, Drew and Maribeth Robertson, Alisa Berry, Lindsey Cline, and Ben Cline; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his loving parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Oliver, James “JD”, Roy, and Fred Cline; Louise Kline and Ellen Wyrick; and his grandson, Joshua Cline.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Staunton Church of the Brethren with Pastor Beth Jarrett officiating.
A private graveside service will be held at Middle River Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions in lieu of flowers to Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, PO Box 215, Fishersville, Virginia 22939 and to Staunton Church of the Brethren, 1615 North Coalter Street, Staunton, VA 24401.
