William Douglas Durham, 65, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, at his residence in Staunton, VA.
He was born on September 24, 1960, in Bangor, Maine to the late Douglas Divers and Deborah “Debby” Kirk Backus Durham.
He was a 1979 graduate of George Washington High School in Danville, Virginia. He was a machinist by trade, a man who took pride in precision and detail. Will was an avid reader, like his mother, always with a book in hand.
Corporal William D. Durham proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from May 4, 1981, to May 5, 1985. Upon completion of his active duty, he was transferred to the Marine Corps Reserve, where he continued his service until September 8, 1986.
He is survived by his daughter, Rachel Marie Becker Lightner (Andrew), his brother, Richard Henry Durham (Anne); his sisters, Cynthia Ann Durham Hubbard (Philip), Elizabeth Wallace Durham Hallinan, and Sarah Lindsley Durham LaPrade (John); his three nephews, Andrew, James, and Jason, and his two nieces, Margaret and Madelyn.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, Virginia.
